Burnaby moved closer to 355 secure rental homes after a recent funding announcement totaling >$170M from the federal government and First Nations partners.
The funding package included $131.9M through a federal loan program, supporting one low-rise building with 91 homes and one high-rise building with 264 units.
Plans included a gym, children's play area, and rooftop patio with barbeque, adding shared amenities alongside the new rental homes for residents.
The two buildings were planned near 3683 Willingdon Avenue and 4428 Kwasen Way, close to a local institute, a major shopping area, and amenities.
Backers said the Burnaby development would support long-term community building, create housing opportunities for future generations, and include a significant number of affordable homes.
