Surrey, BC Leads Renter-Friendly Rankings

Surrey led the recent regional renter ranking, posting the top score across affordability, availability, stability and livability among all communities reviewed overall.
Its avg. asking rent was $2.2K, placing fifth on affordability, but stronger results in other categories, especially availability, helped push Surrey into first place.
An adviser said Surrey's rise matched heavier building in transit-oriented neighbourhoods, with more high-density development appearing near rapid transit corridors across the city.
For renters comfortable with longer commutes, Surrey offered entry into a university-centric, emerging community, with a younger vibe and the feeling of joining ongoing growth.
An adviser described Surrey as a city of opportunity still being built for the next generation, with plenty of new growth still coming.
