Burnaby Plans 183 Family Rental Units

Burnaby’s housing authority recently marked construction of 183 purpose-built rental townhomes at 6203 Marine Drive, adding family-focused housing in South Slope on long-term city-leased land.
The Burnaby BC community will feature 58 two-bedroom and 125 three-bedroom units, with market, below-market, and median-income-linked homes owned and operated by the housing authority.
Funding totals $92M, led by an $84.5M low-interest federal loan, plus $3.9M from the housing authority and development charge credits from local partners.
Officials called the build a rare purpose-built townhome rental, designed to be livable and family-friendly near recreation, parks, schools, and outdoor amenity space.
Burnaby also has 480 more rental homes underway, reflecting a partnership model officials said speeds delivery; this townhome community is slated for Late-Q3 2028 completion.
