Ottawa announced $2 billion over eight years to support one million home retrofits, targeting lower energy costs and more efficient Canadian housing.
Up to 820,000 households could receive heat-pump rebates, with eligible below-median-income households receiving up to $10,000 and others $2,000.
The plan also targets 280,000 apartment units, with CMHC financing supporting retrofits for up to 250,000 additional units.
The takeaway: Housing investment is expanding beyond new construction, creating opportunities around energy efficiency, multifamily upgrades and long-term operating costs.
